Where Music and Tales Meet: Beyond Oceans and Time

日本の弾き語り芸能である「薩摩琵琶」と、北インドの地で愛されてきた「シタール」と「タブラ」。生まれた国も背景も違いますが、どちらもかつての人々の生活や祈り、自然との調和を願う心から生まれ、今日まで大切に受け継がれてきた音楽だと感じています。
インドの詩人ラビンドラナート・タゴールが、日々のささやかな営みの中に普遍的な愛と調和を見出したように、この3つの楽器の響き合いを通じて、皆様の日常をほんのり明るく照らすような音楽をお届けできたら良いなと思います。

Satsuma biwa, a traditional Japanese narrative singing art, meets the sitar and tabla, which have long been cherished in Northern India. Although they come from different countries and backgrounds, I feel that both traditions were born from the daily lives of people in the past, their prayers, and their desire for harmony with nature—music that has been carefully passed down to this day.Just as the Indian poet Rabindranath Tagore found universal love and harmony in the small, daily acts of life, I hope that the resonance of these three instruments will deliver music that gently brightens your everyday life.

本公演では、薩摩琵琶の古典的な弾き語りをラーガでアレンジ、シタールの神秘的な旋律とタブラの生き生きとしたリズムと共に、ユニークな音楽を奏でます。
戦いの歴史を謡いながらも、その奥底にある「哀悼」と「平和への渇望」。現代の皆様にも様々な視点から古典音楽に触れていただける一夜となることを願っています。

In this performance, we present a unique musical experience by arranging classic Satsuma biwa narrative singing with ragas, combined with the mystical melodies of the sitar and the lively rhythms of the tabla. While chanting the history of battle, the performance delves deeper into "mourning" and a "longing for peace." We hope this evening will allow contemporary audiences to experience classical music from diverse perspectives.
